Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has decided to let go of the tag Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan (VMSS). Only the headquarters of the civic body at Khanderao Market will now be referred to as Mahanagar Seva Sadan while all official correspondence will take place with the name VMC.
The VMC had taken the decision to identify itself as VMSS on December 20, 2006 following a circular of the state urban development department. VMSS since then has been used in all correspondence, stationery, stamps and visiting cards by the civic body.
VMC commissioner H S Patel has issued a fresh circular asking all officials and departments to revert to the use of VMC instead of VMSS. Patel’s circular states that the one issued by the UDD in 2006 had been misinterpreted.
In September, the municipal commissioner had brought out a similar circular insisting that the civic body’s headquarters should not be called ‘market’. The term was being widely used as the building has been christened as Khanderao Market.
