Vadodara: The opposition party in the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has objected to the construction of a police outpost at Indira Maidan in Gajrawadi area.

The opposition has demanded that the ground should be left open for public use.

Opposition leader Chandrakant Shrivastava said that the ground was around a century old and was being used by school students as well as those residing in the area. He added that functions like weddings were also held there.

Shrivastava has stated that the decision to construct the police station there had been taken at the behest of a BJP member. He said that if a ground was in public use for over a decade, the VMC first needed to advertise its intention of constructing something there and invite suggestions and objections. TNN
