Vadodara: The budget meeting of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) turned stormy after a derogatory remark by former opposition leader and Congress councillor Chirag Zaveri. The ruling BJP created a furore over the issue.

The incident took place late on Thursday evening when Zaveri was commenting on the speeches appreciating the budget by ruling BJP members.

He said that they were doing so out of sycophancy.

This did not go down well and even mayor Bharat Dangar asked him to withdraw the words.

Zaveri, who is a seasoned councillor, withdrew the word only to replace it with a synonym ensuring that he still conveyed whatever he intended to. TNN
