Vadodara: The demolition squads of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) razed remaining part of the Ramdevnagar slums on the edge of the Gotri pond.

While the civic body had razed around 400 dwellings there in June this year, the remaining 500 were razed on Monday.

The drive has, however, raised eyebrows as the slums were earlier developed as a model slum and amenities were provided there with aid from UNESCO.

The residents had also given contributions to the project that was taken up about two decades back.

The residents of the slum had vacated their residences by Sunday night. They had been given alternative accommodation by the civic body in its housing schemes for the urban poor.
