VADODARA: Digitalised versions of 21,000 books of the Central Library were formally released by minister of state for sports, youth and cultural activities Rajendra Trivedi on Saturday. Trivedi also inaugurated an e-books section at the Central Library on the day.

An exhibition on rare books and photographs that were digitalised also kicked off on the occasion. Trivedi said that the rare and old books will now be preserved for centuries due to the digitisation. He remembered the days when he was a child member of the library.

The library was a part of the library movement started by the visionary Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III. It also acted as the nerve centre of the library network of the erstwhile Baroda state.
